Over the last two years, AFT members and leaders poured their hearts and souls into this election cycle. Since March, we have been all-in to elect Joe Biden—and since July, Kamala Harris—to the White House. Biden and Harris know that America's educators, school staff, healthcare workers and public employees fought for them every step of the way.

Jill Biden, the soon-to-be first lady and a longtime educator, knows how important your work is and how hard you pushed for the Biden-Harris ticket. On behalf of the campaign, she wants to express her personal appreciation. Please join us as she shares a special message of thanks with members of the American Federation of Teachers and the National Education Association on Monday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. EST.

Our members were more engaged during this national election than ever before. We had thousands of volunteer shifts and made more phone calls than we've ever made. And then there was our 33-day, 15-state AFT Votes bus tour. In the end, it all paid off. While there were some disappointments, we elected Biden and Harris, preserved our democracy, and won local contests for pro-public education school board members, school levies and more. These successes came together because, even in the throes of a pandemic, our members care, fight, show up and vote.

We're ready to be partners in the effort to "build back better." When Biden replaces Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, we'll have an opportunity to fight to strengthen public education, not simply defend against her attacks on student borrowers, educators and the civil rights of students. When Biden replaces Eugene Scalia at the Labor Department, we'll have a chance to enact pro-worker policies across the board. And with a health and human services secretary who supports healthcare workers, we'll work to create policies that help nurses in the fight against COVID-19, push for Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards and more.

This event with Jill Biden is for AFT and NEA members only.

We'll email the link for the event to everyone who registers. Please click here to register.

In unity,
Randi Weingarten
