My name is Christine Alvarado Judd, and I am running for Vice President for Membership Activities because I believe an active membership creates a stronger union. Bringing people together has always felt natural to me. Organization and event planning are my comfort zone — I’m happiest when I’m coordinating details, creating welcoming events, and helping people connect. This same energy carries into both my professional role at UConn Health and my work with UHP.
I began working at UConn Health in 2000 and have remained active in UHP throughout my career. Over the years, my involvement has taken many forms. I previously served as Vice President of Tier I Employees and Vice President of Communications, and I’ve contributed to committees including Finance, Communications, Steward, Elections, Scholarships, and Negotiations. I’ve represented UHP as a delegate to Connecticut AFT, Connecticut AFL-CIO, AFT National, and the AFT Professional Issues Conference. Along the way, I’ve presented at AFT events and participated in member mobilization efforts across multiple states. I look forward to returning to an officer role within UHP.
At UConn Health, I work in the School of Dental Medicine where I advocate daily for my coworkers while managing responsibilities that require communication, planning, and collaboration. I approach this work with a practical mindset and a people-first focus, always looking for ways to improve systems and make interactions more personal.
At the heart of everything I do is connection. When members feel informed, included, and supported, our union community grows stronger. Creating opportunities for engagement, improving communication, and helping members feel welcome guide my work every day. My focus is to foster an environment where every member feels included and valued — regardless of title, department, or role at UConn Health.
I ask for your support and vote for VP of Membership Activities. Thank you!
