Election ’26: Elizabeth Barrientos

For 25 years, I have proudly served UConn Health in a variety of administrative roles, growing alongside the institution and gaining a deep understanding of the people, processes, and challenges that shape our workplace. I currently serve as an Administrative Program Coordinator in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, where I support employees, coordinate complex needs, and build strong relationships across departments.

I also serve as a Union Steward, advocating daily for the rights, concerns, and well-being of our members. In this role, I guide employees through workplace challenges, ensure contract protections are upheld, and work to create an environment where every member feels heard and supported. My union involvement extends beyond steward work— as a long-time elected delegate, I have represented UHP at local, state, and national levels and participated in multiple contract negotiations. These experiences have given me a comprehensive understanding of our contract, our processes, and the issues our members face.

What sets my service apart is the combination of long institutional experience and deep union involvement. I have spent decades not only working within UConn Health, but standing beside members, advocating for fairness, and helping resolve concerns with empathy and clarity. This dual perspective allows me to support employees with insight, consistency, and a practical understanding of how to get results.

I remain committed to strengthening communication, building connections, and supporting every member of our UHP community. Together, we can continue building a stronger, more connected union.

Thank you.
Elizabeth Barrientos
