Summer Lambert is running for recording secretary. She was born and raised in Waterbury and currently resides in Wolcott with her husband. Summer is the mother of two daughters, two stepsons, and four dogs. Summer started her career as an optician apprentice and later became a certified ophthalmology technician.
Summer started her career at UConn Health in 2015. She got involved with UHP immediately. She became a union representative within her first year and was presented with the Lois B. Diehm Memorial Union Representative of the Year Award in 2019 (nominated by her peers.)
Summer comes from a strong union household. Her husband is a chief steward in the IBEW; they both take pride in their passion for representing members. They discuss team-building skills and pledge to strengthen their unions through each other's work experience, union experiences, and drive to fight for collective bargaining rights. She understands the value of working hard and knows how to fight for what is right. Her commitment to the members has been visible; she was one of three UHP members chosen to attend the AFT Professional Issues Conference in 2021.
Summer supported the AFT’s organizing workshop getting members to recommit to the collective bargaining process, having members sign cards after the Supreme Court’s Janus decision. She fought tirelessly for the campaign “I’m sticking with my Union.”
Summer supports other locals, walking with the UFCW Local 371 during the Stop and Shop Strike providing water, coffee and donuts. She worked with her husband’s union in fundraising for the CT Children’s Medical Center and for a fundraiser for her stepson after a horrific accident.
Summer enthusiastically looks forward to being the UHP’s next recording secretary and helping leaders to build strength in solidarity throughout UHP while providing a forward-thinking vision for our organization.
