From CT AFL-CIO President Ed Hawthorne:
By an overwhelming 100% YES vote, hotel workers at the New Haven Omni Hotel have authorized a strike.
But we need your help to ensure they win a strong contract that not only benefits them but sets a better standard for fair pay and benefits in the service sector across New Haven.
After months of unsuccessful negotiations, workers are tired of waiting for raises, better workloads, and protections for work associated with providing guests services and amenities. Their contract expired over four months ago.
Working people are still dealing with crippling inflation and wages that don’t keep pace. All the while, hotel profits are more than 25% higher in 2022 than in 2019.
We need you to join the fight to create more good union jobs in New Haven.
In solidarity,
Ed Hawthorne, President
Connecticut AFL-CIO
