Solidarity Alert: Supporting IAM Strike

three people on picket line with signs
Treasurer Michelle Proper and 1st VP Shawn Brown are among the union activists who joined striking machinists on the picket lines.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! UHP!

Our brothers and sisters from IAM (International Association of Machinists) union need our support!
IAM strike flyer

The IAM members working out of Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford and Middletown have gone on strike in hopes of securing a fair and equitable contract for their membership. They need all the support they can get at this time. Understandable that with the current fiscal climate of our state and at the federal level, times have become a bit difficult. UHP is asking our membership to join in by supporting our fellow union members. These members will be going without pay and potentially without medical benefits until this is resolved. Here are a few ways to help:

  • Walk the strike line in unity. There are three locations (two in East Hartford, one in Middletown). See flyer for locations.
  • Monetary donations
  • Food, water, and drink donations for the striking workers
  • Gift cards

If you would like to send donations directly to the locals, please send them to:

You can also contact the UHP union office directly at 860-676-8444 to coordinate pickup/drop off of any donations.

Always remember that as a union member, an attack on one is an attack on all.

Thank you for any support you can provide.

In Solidarity,

Shawn Brown
First Vice President of Collective Bargaining
