SEPT. 16, 2025—New reports out today related to UConn Health’s possible acquisition of Waterbury, Bristol and Day-Kimball Hospitals raise more questions than answers. What we do know is that if these were to come to fruition, the issue of “scale” raised in last year’s consultant report would be resolved.
It's critically important that another private equity group is not permitted to take over any more Connecticut hospitals. As we have said repeatedly, we are one of the premier medical academic centers in the U.S. and any hospital that affiliates with us will be stronger for it.
Union leaders are on top this - and committed to keeping our members informed. As we learn of concrete developments, we will pass those on and answer related questions.
In the meantime, we urge all members to remain engaged with their union in order to be best prepared for wherever the road ahead leads.
