Bill has been a long-time member of UHP and UConn Health. He started his UConn career in 1996.
As a UConn nurse, he worked for 16 years in Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant. Before utilizing the “leg-up” program and moved to the Emergency Department for 5 years.
In 2016 Bill decided to run for and get elected to the position of UHP President. For the past 10 years Bill has proudly served in that role.
He has been on just every committee at UHP and our state federation AFT-CT, including Union Rep, Steward, Communications, Finance, and Membership. From 1998 until today, he has been a part of every negotiating team for UHP. Bill has done it all.
Has been on the Vice President for the executive committee of AFT-CT since 2016 and has been the only AFT-CT member to be the Divisional Vice President of two divisions, both the Healthcare and Public Employees.
Bill is an active member of LPAC, AFT-CT’s Legislative Political Action Committee, which during election season can meet three times a week.
Bill has been serving as a Connecticut representative on AFT National’s PPC (Program and Policy Council). This group directs the national conversation for public employees.
He also sits at SEBAC (State Employee Bargaining Agent Coalition), the group that negotiates the pension and health care benefits for all state of Connecticut workers.
While at SEBAC, Bill is also the Grievance chair for that institution. He works closely with the legal team in defending all state employees’ rights.
