- If you are considering joining one of the councils, below please find the detailed description of each council's function/accountability to aid in your selection.
- It's easy to join, simply send an email to Sue Ellen Goodrich indicating your interest along with the name of the council that you would like to join.
PROFESSIONAL ADVANCEMENT COUNCIL (PAC)/ STRUCTURAL EMPOWERMENT*
PURPOSE: To empower nurses to grow and develop professionally.
TOTAL MEMBERS NEEDED = 9
FUNCTION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Conduct a learning needs assessment of all levels of nursing and develop action plans
- Establish a process for peer review for goal development and growth promotion of all nurses
- Promote professional certification of nurses in all practice areas
- Promote professional education and degree advancement.
- Monitor, evaluate and encourage clinical ladder advancement
- Coordination of Nurse's week and recognition programs for nursing
- Collaborate, identify, implement and support recruitment and retention strategies
- Support the development of the nurse as professional patient educator
- Work to enhance the professional image of nursing within UConn Health
- Identify and support implementation of recruitment and retention strategies

CLINICAL PRACTICE OUTCOMES COUNCIL/ EXEMPLARY PRACTICE*
PURPOSE: To achieve exemplary outcomes thought exemplary practice.
TOTAL MEMBERS NEEDED = 11
FUNCTION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Monitor aggregated data related to Nurse Sensitive Quality outcomes and develop an action plan
- Promote medication safety practices
- Develop and implement EB standard of clinical practice
- Systematically review and develop standards of nursing practice.
- Analyze and monitor patient satisfaction data and develop appropriate action plans.
- Design, implement and evaluate a PPM.
- Analyze and monitor RN Satisfaction Survey results
- Promote ethical practice in accordance with the professional code of nurses

TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION COUNCIL
PURPOSE: To promote optimal integration of technology and innovation to advance nursing practice and patient outcomes.
TOTAL MEMBERS NEEDED = 12
FUNCTION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Evaluate new and current technology for application to practice
- Improve the quality and efficiency of the nursing documentation system
- Recommend changes and foster innovations to improve patient outcomes and nurse satisfaction
