AFL-CIO Petition Drive

Greedy corporate CEOs and special interests have long kept themselves busy with attacks on working people. Last week, those attacks culminated in a Supreme Court decision that throws out decades of established, common-sense precedent implemented to protect workers' rights.

The Public Service Freedom to Negotiate Act of 2018 has just been introduced in direct response to the Supreme Court ruling, and would secure basic labor rights that are currently endangered for working women and men in the public sector. We're sending a petition to Congress urging our legislators to pass this important bill fighting the attacks on working people.

The most effective way to secure the rights and freedoms of all workers is by collectively bargaining for better wages, benefits and a voice on the job. This bill, if passed, would strengthen public employees' right to join a union and give them access to dispute mechanisms at work.

Almost half of union workers are public employees. When we implement legislation and policies that raise wages and benefits, and allow our teachers, nurses, health care providers, firefighters, librarians and many other public workers to speak up on the job, our communities benefit.

Although the rich and powerful have usurped more and more power from our communities, the constitutional rights of workers have not changed. Add your name to the petition now and tell Congress: Enough with the attacks on working people.

In solidarity,

Bill
