My name is Gloria Valentino and I have been at UConn Health for 14 years as a staff nurse and have been a registered nurse for over 20 years. I have an associate degree in science of nursing and a bachelor’s in business and leadership from Quinnipiac University. Prior to my career as a registered nurse I worked as a realtor for seven years.
My experience as a realtor has given me extensive experience in negotiations; I was very effective in my role and recognized as a top listing agent for many years. I feel my prior experience and education has provided me an even stronger foundation to be an effective leader and understand what is needed to negotiate on behalf of our union.
I'm not satisfied with the status quo. I expect accountability, improvement, and working conditions that acknowledge work/life balance for all of our members.
I volunteer my time to attend union steward and representative meetings. Presently, I am on the negotiation team for our upcoming union contract. Having experienced the way our union operates for the past two years, I feel that I have the knowledge and skills to implement the changes we need.
Anyone who has worked with me in the trenches for the past 14 years at UConn can attest to my drive and energy!
