Friday at noon we are crowding as many UConn folks as we can--employees, faculty, students--into the Legislative Office Building to send the message to our elected officials loud and clear: Come up with a state budget that works for working people and that doesn't threaten to decimate our University and shutter the state's only public academic medical center.

Please see the following from the state fed on the state budget crisis.

As union leaders, we see this as a simple choice; do we want to invest in kids, public safety, healthcare and other vital components of our economy? The alternative is to continue protecting corporate CEOs, handing over taxpayer dollars to hedge fund managers and letting the ultra-rich get away without paying their fair share.

Our VP for Communication has been tasked with finding proud health care employees to share their stories in quick videos.

On April 28, the unions of the Connecticut AFL-CIO observe Workers Memorial Day to remember those who have suffered and died on the job and to renew the fight for safe jobs.

In the wee hours of Saturday morning, the legislature unexpectedly passed a state budget package that, if signed into law, would be catastrophic for you, your family and your community. This two-year fiscal blueprint rolls-back collective bargaining rights, eliminates good jobs and hikes middle and working class taxes.
