Every year we join the state's labor movement in observing Workers Memorial Day to honor our sisters and brothers whose lives were lost on the job.

Make arrangements today to join us later this month in Hartford to demonstrate how the strength of the "U and I in Union" saves lives:

WHEN: Friday, April 26, beginning at noon

IB ImageWHERE: Gather at the Workers' Memorial along Trinity Street near the arch in Hartford's Bushnell Park (street parking is available in the area).

HOW: Click here to send e-mail to the Connecticut AFL-CIO to RSVP.

Attending an event scheduled in the middle of a weekday may be a challenge, so we understand if you're unable to make it. We believe this commemoration is too important not to share it — so we're asking you to do the same, too.

Click here for more information on the ceremony and scholarship competition.

The focus of this year's observance is on preventing avoidable tragedies by demanding policies that would make all our workplaces safer. We hope to see you April 26 in Hartford for this important opportunity to make our collective voices heard.

More to come, and in solidarity,

Ed Leavy
Secretary-Treasurer, AFT Connecticut

Jean Morningstar

John Brady, RN

Jan Hochadel
