2022 CALL FOR NOMINATIONS AND PROPOSED CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS

Call for nominations for UHP Officers: Nominations are now in order for the positions of Chief Steward, Vice President of Tier I (salaried) Employees, Vice President of Tier II (hourly) Employees, and Vice President for Community Outreach, all of which are three-year terms beginning July 1, 2022. 

Additionally, the position of First Vice President for Collective Bargaining is open for nominations for a one-year term, as this position will be vacated June 30, 2022. The one-year term will begin July 1, 2022. The position of Recording Secretary is open for nominations for a 15-month term, as this position will be vacated March 31, 2022. The 15-month term will begin April 1, 2022

The position of First Vice President for Collective Bargaining is a full-time released position. 

To fit the needs of UHP, the elected Chief Steward position will either be an 80% released (if necessary) position or paid by stipend with at least two days release time a month. The candidate elected will determine how he or she will fulfill the term. Further, the accepted nominee for Chief Steward must have attained super seniority. 

The positions of Vice President Tier I Employees, Vice President Tier II Employees, Vice President for Community Outreach, and Recording Secretary receive a stipend. The nominee must be a member in good standing and be nominated by members in good standing. The nomination(s) shall be in writing and must contain at least ten original signatures of members in good standing. Nomination(s) by email or fax will NOT be accepted for officer nominations. Nominations are due no later than 4 p.m. Feb. 1, 2022, to the UHP Office (or Mail Code 6335) in a sealed envelope addressed to the Elections Committee.

Call for nominations for UHP Delegate Positions: Nominations are now in order for the positions of delegates to the AFT-CT Convention, the AFT National Convention, the CT State AFL-CIO Convention, the AFT-CT Delegate Assembly, the Greater Hartford Central Labor Coalition, the Greater Bristol Labor Federation, and the Eastern CT Area Labor Federation. 

The nominee must be a member in good standing and must be nominated by a member in good standing. A member may nominate him/herself. 

UHP Constitution Article XVII – 2e. Determination and allocation of all expenses shall be determined by the Executive Committee prior to the election. This includes release time. The current Executive Committee has determined that for the AFT-CT Convention 26 delegates would be eligible to attend the convention. Registration will be paid and release time granted for those that may need it. No mileage reimbursement allowed. The determination for the CT AFL-CIO Convention is 26 delegates would be eligible to attend the convention. Registration would be paid and release time will be provided. No mileage or parking reimbursement allowed. The determination for the AFT National Convention is 27 delegates would be eligible to attend the convention. Registration, transportation, hotel (sharing a room), and per diem would be paid. 

Delegate nominations may be submitted by email provided that each submission is signed by a member in good standing or may be dropped off or mailed to the UHP office. Delegate nominations are due no later than 4 p.m. Feb. 1, 2022, to the UHP office (or Mail Code 6335) in a sealed envelope addressed to the Elections Committee or emailed to ldidden@uhp3837.com

Proposed Constitutional Amendments: Any proposed amendments shall be submitted by members in good standing, and that member must sign the proposal. The proposed amendments will be voted on at the UHP Annual Business Convention April 8, 2022. Proposed Constitutional Amendments may be submitted by email, provided that each submission is signed by a member in good standing, or may be dropped off or mailed to the UHP office. Amendments are due no later than 4 p.m. Feb. 1, 2022, to the UHP office (or Mail Code 6335) in a sealed envelope addressed to the Elections Committee, or emailed to ldidden@uhp3837.com

Members in Good Standing: A member in good standing is defined as one who has authorized membership (that is, signed a card), and paid dues as stipulated in Article X and Article XVI, or Article III, Section 2b of the UHP Constitution.
