Under the agreement, signed by Garrity July 13, the language in the contract UHP has worked under since 2006 remains in place through June 2017, or sooner if a new collective bargaining agreement is reached – and approved by the Connecticut General Assembly – before then. Notably, this includes reimbursement for tuition and continuing education.
“We agreed to an extension that makes it clear that all rights and benefits in our existing contract would be honored during the continuation period,” Garrity says. “This enables our members to continue their important day-to-day work while allowing time for us to work with management on our next contract, and we’d like to thank the university leadership for working with us on it.”
